Kyoko Murase “Drawings”
Dates: Apr 24 – May 24, 2014
Location: Taka Ishii Gallery Modern (Piramide Bldg, Roppongi)
Opening reception: Thursday, Apr 24
Taka Ishii Gallery Modern is pleased to present “Drawings,” a solo exhibition of drawings by Kyoko Murase, from April 24 to May 24, 2014. This exhibition will include about 20 of Murase’s drawings, including new and previously unexhibited works.
Murase’s drawings give off the sense of having been drawn very much at ease. Here, drawing, applying color and realizing this all in a single frame—in other words, the essential elements of painting—are developed free of any restrictions. At times, a flower petal or a magazine scrap is pasted to the surface of the drawing; such an element allows us to see Murase probing the possibilities of her work. This quality has won her high praise, and we invite you to take this opportunity to see her drawings, which are open to a rich array of interpretations.
Murase’s work will also be exhibited at “Takahashi Collection 2014: Mindfulness!” (Nagoya City Art Museum, April 12-June 8, 2014) and “Kon! Kon! Kon!” (Zenkyoan x FOIL contemporary art group exhibition, Kyoto, April 27-May 6). For further details about these exhibitions, please contact the exhibition spaces directly.
